Understanding Lung Cancer Screening

What is an LDCT
Low-Dose Computed Tomography (LDCT) is a special type of X-ray that uses lower amounts of radiation to create detailed images of your lungs. It's a quick, painless procedure that can help detect lung cancer early when it's most treatable.
What are the Screening Guidelines?
Screening for lung cancer with LDCT is recommended for:

- Individuals aged 50 and older
- Those with a history of heavy smoking (at least one pack of cigarettes a day for 20 years, or 2 packs of cigarettes a day for 10 years)
- Individuals currently smoking or who have quit within the past 15 years
Why is LDCT Recommended
LDCT is recommended because it can detect lung cancer at its earliest stages, often before symptoms appear. Early detection increases the chances of successful treatment and can significantly improve survival rates.
Why is Lung Cancer Screening Important
Lung cancer is one of the leading causes of cancer deaths worldwide. Regular screening can catch the disease early, leading to better treatment outcomes. By participating in screening, you are taking a proactive step toward protecting your health and ensuring you can enjoy many more moments with your loved ones.
